Bluestone Entryway

The bluestone landing pad on this driveway shows how bluestone and asphalt can come together to create a uniquely beautiful driveway. There are functional reasons to use bluestone – if properly installed it lasts indefinitely, it can elegantly announce a transition in the driveway – such as which door is the preferred entrance, and it can be much cooler on bare feet. There are aesthetic reasons as well. Bluestone can create a striking visual break in the driveway, it can make a statement about the quality of the home and attention to detail. It also conveys a sense of elegance and a timeless feel. In this project the bluestone you see is 4″ thick, it was laid on an 8″ reinforced concrete base, and each piece was individually cut so that there is a uniform 1/2″ space for grouting between each piece. This is demanding, challenging work – it is not simply laying thin pieces of bluestone on a gravel base. It is the kind of quality work that will last a lifetime that Statile and Todd thrives at.
